So today, I wanted to do a detailed review on my beautiful Replica Chanel Reissue in the black aged calfskin with ruthenium hardware. I am extremely pleased with the leather on this bag and could not stop petting it all night. It’s not stiff in the slightest and doesn’t have the weird creasing/wrinkly that I have seen on some of the lesser quality leather bags and shoes. I can’t wait to see how it will age. It has no factory smell and just smells of pure leather.

The ruthenium hardware has that beautiful aged, slightly tarnished look, so it won’t show wear over time. And the chain strap? It glides through the grommets so smoothly, making it super easy to change up how you wear it.

The “Mademoiselle” Lock

It features the original Mademoiselle lock, which is a turn lock just like the Classic Flap, but with a subtle “Chanel” engraved at the bottom. It’s so understated that you don’t feel like you’re carrying a super showy bag—and I know a lot of people absolutely love that about the Reissue.

Unique Feature: It Folds!

One really unique feature? This bag can be folded flat as Authentic. You can see the crease along the center here and the marks on the bottom where it naturally folds. Because of this, it’s the only bag I don’t stuff when I store it. The only place I do add support is right behind the turn lock to prevent it from getting pushed in and leaving marks. But otherwise, I leave it unstuffed to maintain its shape.

The Interior

Inside, it has the double flap like any classic flap. You have the zipper pocket (which, as you all know, only opens upward—not the most useful, but it’s classic), and a slip pocket right behind it. The CC logo on the flap is stitched flat—it doesn’t puff out like on the medium/large.The interior stamp, serial sticker, and authenticity card are virtually Indistinguishable from the authentic. Under the main flap, you get two slit pockets with that little lipstick holder in the middle, and it says “Chanel – made in France.” The interior is a beautiful burgundy, which is a nod to Coco Chanel’s convent uniform, and it is incredibly spacious.

My Journey: Trial and Error

Now, I wanted to share why I went through some trial and error before landing on this exact replica bag.

At first, I was sure I wanted the aged gold hardware. Every time I saw it, my heart skipped a beat. I initially thought I wanted the 225 size (the smaller one), because everyone said it was closest to the medium/large and looked better worn crossbody.

Then I found a beautiful 225 in aged gold and bought it immediately. But when it arrived, it felt so small! I couldn’t figure it out until I did the measurements. The 225 is 9.5 inches wide, while the medium/large is 10 inches. That half-inch difference means you can’t fit two SLGs side-by-side vertically. I love organizing my things in pouches, so that was a dealbreaker. I sold it and only lost about $50—one of the reasons I love buying pre-loved too!

After that, I decided to try the 226 in aged gold. I got it, loved it, but… never reached for it. I dress pretty casually—sweatpants, leggings—and the gold just felt too dressy on me. It looked like I had jewels all over, and it clashed with my everyday style.

A Note on the Turn Lock

Wear & Tear

Since this bag I’ve used heavily for a year, here’s what I’ve noticed:

• Corners: A little wear if they rub against things—totally normal.
• Leather products: Do NOT use conditioner or cleaners on aged calfskin! I made that mistake on the back pocket, and now it’s shinier and smoother than the rest of the bag. It takes away that unique textured finish. Learn from my mistake!
• Snap marks: When closing the double flap, make sure the snap clears the flap before turning the lock. Otherwise, it can leave a small mark. Just a quick check when you close it prevents this!

Modeling Shots

For reference, I’m 5’4″ and wear a size 10-12.

Double-stranded: Hits perfectly—no pinching under the arm.

Single-stranded: This is how I wear it most often—so comfortable and easy.

Crossbody: Hits about an inch above my natural waist. For my curvier frame, it works great, and for anyone more petite or slim, it would be perfect.
